{"id":161,"date":"2017-07-25T00:19:34","date_gmt":"2017-07-24T16:19:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/gri.my\/blog\/?p=161"},"modified":"2017-07-25T00:22:52","modified_gmt":"2017-07-24T16:22:52","slug":"create-a-full-image-backup-of-a-n7100-samsung-galaxy-note-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gri.my\/blog\/create-a-full-image-backup-of-a-n7100-samsung-galaxy-note-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Create a full image backup of a N7100 (Samsung Galaxy Note 2)"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Requires:<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>ADB installed on Windows\/Linux<\/li>\n<li>7zip on Windows or any software capable of packing files into .tar<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Steps:<\/h2>\n<ol>\n<li>Grab <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/search?q=odin3_v3.12.3.zip\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Odin3_v3.12.3.zip<\/strong><\/a>, unzip.<\/li>\n<li>Grab <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/search?q=twrp-3.1.1-0-20052017-UNOFFICIAL-n7100.img\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>twrp-3.1.1-0-20052017-UNOFFICIAL-n7100.img<\/strong><\/a>, rename it to <strong>recovery.img<\/strong> and pack it into <strong>recovery.tar<\/strong> using software listed in Requires<\/li>\n<li>Go into unzipped Odin folder, execute <strong>Odin3.exe<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Click on AP button, this will open up a file browser dialog. Select the <strong>recovery.tar<\/strong> created in step 2.<\/li>\n<li>Put your Note 2 into Download mode by powering off your phone, and powering back on with the <strong>Volume Down + Home + Power<\/strong> key combination. Let go of the key combination when you see the device model logo (white text). Press <strong>Volume Up<\/strong> button when you see the warning.<\/li>\n<li>Plug the phone in, Odin should have a <strong>Added!<\/strong> message displayed.<\/li>\n<li>Click on the <strong>Options<\/strong> tab, and uncheck <strong>Auto Reboot<\/strong>. This is to prevent the phone from rebooting after the flashing. (Booting into OS will cause TWRP to be overwritten to stock)<\/li>\n<li>Within Odin, click <strong>Start<\/strong> to start the flash process. Wait until done.<\/li>\n<li>Press <strong>Volume Up + Home + Power<\/strong> key combination until phone reboots into showing device model logo and let go of keys. It should boot into TWRP.<\/li>\n<li>Tap on <strong>Mount<\/strong>, and make sure storage is <strong>Internal storage<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Plug the Note 2 into PC, open up a <strong>terminal<\/strong> and run <code>adb backup --twrp<\/code><\/li>\n<li>TWRP on the Note 2 should change into the backup GUI. Select the partition\/root folder you want to backup and swipe to start the backup.<br \/>\n<h6><strong><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">Warning<\/span>:<\/strong> If you selected to backup <code>\/data<\/code>, TWRP DOES NOT BACK UP THE INTERNAL STORAGE (\/data\/media\/*)! User files are not backed up!<\/h6>\n<\/li>\n<li>To back up stuff under <code>\/data\/media<\/code>, we do a <code>adb pull \/sdcard<\/code>.<br \/>\n<h6><strong><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\">Tip<\/span>: <\/strong>The folders under <code>\/data\/media<\/code> are all shadow reflexes of <code>\/data\/media.<\/code><\/h6>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Requires: ADB installed on Windows\/Linux 7zip on Windows or any software capable of packing files into .tar Steps: Grab Odin3_v3.12.3.zip, unzip.
